Want to Get Involved with the Fight Against Tobacco?
ETCN is a standing committee of Smoke Free Indiana, working with the ethnic population of Marion County. Through events and membership involvement, we share the tobacco free message by providing specific materials, and professional support, and by supporting outreach programs.
Our goals include:
- Preventing the initiation of tobacco use among young people
- Promoting quitting among young people and adults through cessation education and services
- Eliminating nonsmokers exposure to secondhand smoke
- Identifying and eliminating the disparities related to tobacco use and it’s effects among different population groups
Show your support for ETCN by going to smokefreeindiana.org and completing the membership form.
Involve your Church:
The African American church can send a powerful tobacco-free message to its members by adopting cessation polices and programs. The National African American Tobacco Education Network (NAATEN) is well aware of the impact the Black church is having on tobacco use within our community. NAATEN created Be Free Indeed: Tobacco Prevention Tools for the African American Church to empower the church community with key resources that allow the church to play a decisive role in the struggle against tobacco. Click here for information about NAATEN training and resources.
